Operation Iraqi Freedom Logistics, Strategy and Support Essay
Operation Iraqi Freedom Logistics, Strategy and Support - Essay Example Theà  distributionà  based logistics did not function smoothly, as ità  was expectedà  when the USà  groupà  went to Iraqi for the first time (Peltz, Halliday, and Girardini, 2005).à  Variety of problems needed to be addressed and they included insufficient logistics employees, reduced asset visibility, lack of proper communication, and inadequate provision of transportation materials. Although, with time the Army has persistently continued toà  changeà  theà  supplyà  processà  and has advanced the materials used so that theà  distributionà  based logistics system canà  becomeà  more successful. It wasà  evidentà  that when operation Iraqi freedom begun, the department of defense did not have theà  supplyà  capabilityà  to set up andà  manageà  the majority ofà  distributionà  and tools in theater. Theà  principalà  factor that led to the issues ofà  distributionà  in the operation Iraqi freedom was insufficient war service maintaining staff in the theater. Most of the units in theà  warà  serviceà  sustenanceà  are reservedà  and, therefore, need almost 90 to 120 days to activate andà  deployà  the operation Iraqi freedom. Toà  preventà  theà  trainingà  division over the December 2002 festive season, theà  conclusionà  was decidedà  so that there is a delay in some of the recruitment of operation Iraqi freedom (Amaal and Judi, 2007).à  Because of this reason, majority of the army and theà  aquaticà  service logistics staff, did notà  prepareà  to the theater till the time when theà  warfareà  troops entered and the significantà  warfareà     operations were in progress. At the time, when theà  warfareà  service maintaining staffs were in the theater, defense supply of food and extra parts inà  variousà  unitsà  were exhaustedà  and meals that wereà  readyà  forà  consumptionà  stocks in the maintaining storehouse were not as much for the day in the operation Iraqi freedom.à  This led to the crippling beginning of theà  distributionà  based logistics system
